The Math Department at Desert Hills Middle School won the Superintendent's Award. Each of us won a plaque and a small monetary award. It was nice to be recognized for all of our hard work. We currently have two new core curriculum that we are struggling to learn. Both have no text books, so we are forced to create our own packets and worksheets. It has been the most challenging year of my career. The award made it a little easier to deal with everything on my plate. Just after we received the award, we learned that a student at our school had died. It was a bitter sweet moment.

Woohoo! Awards definitely help make you feel a little better about what you are doing. Especially when you are ready to tell them to jump in a creek. :) Congrats! Sorry to hear about the student. :(
